August 17, 2011 – Oakville, ON – Members of Citizens for Clean Air (C4CA) today expressed support for the Government of Ontario’s plan to implement a pilot project to develop air quality monitoring/management protocols in the Oakville-Clarkson Airshed (OCA).

“We congratulate the government for taking concrete action to address the Oakville-Clarkson Airshed.  It’s important to recognize the hard work of the Ministry of the Environment and local MPPs representatives Kevin Flynn and Charles Sousa,” said C4CA Board Member Jim Goodfellow.  “We know all Ontarians will benefit from this exciting effort to develop the Air Quality Management System. As such, we are asking Conservative Leader Tim Hudak and NDP Leader Andrea Horwath to state publicly whether or not they will honour this commitment to the community and to Ontario’s future.”

The need to establish an air quality management system was one of the recommendations put forward in the Ministry of the Environment’s 2010 Balsillie Task Force Report.
